March 2025: Historic Preservation Highlight

A few weeks ago my class was given the opportunity to visit The Empire Hotel in Salisbury, NC. The hotel takes up half of the 200 block of South Main Street and is currently undergoing renovations so that it can open back up to the public. Each square inch of the hotel is ornately decorated and it is truly a site to see. I'd have to say that one of my favorite aspects of the interior is the vaulted ceilings and the various wallpapers used through the rooms. Although the space is run down, the attention to detail is still prominent and I admire the thought that was put into it.
